is poetry dangerous?

thanks for sharing Ms. Kahf's work, e2c. I wasn't familiar with her, but I'll be sure to check her columns.
I loved the poem “Hijab Scene #2,”:

“ ‘You people have such restrictive dress for women,’ she said, hobbling away in three inch heels and panty hose to finish out another pink-collar temp pool day.”

awesom-O
I know! (The poem.) You should check out her advice column, too.
thanks for sharing this, e2c. i'm bookmarking her site!
Glad you liked this so much, littlem! I really like poetry, and have had a fair number of Arab Muslim ESL students (and pals), so I'm very interested in what she has to say, and love her sense of humor.
If only Western culture could see the degree to which it still obsesses about women's clothing and sexuality. It's just as much a culture about possessing women as Islam is. A great article.
Actually, I think Western culture is *much more* oriented toward "possession" (sexual) of women than most societies in most Muslim/predominantly Muslim countries. Check the link for the interview with Kahf, which will direct you to her sex column...
